10 Headline Formulas That Work Like Magic

The most important part of your copy will be the headline. Spend time getting this part right and the rest will follow. Your first few sentences can mean life or death for the message in the rest of the copy. Therefore, it’s crucial to get it right, to hit the customers and reel them in for the rest of the message.
Miguel Alvarez, Copywriting.com, has come up with his own system for headline formulas. Try these out to help you develop your headlines to be all that they can be. His suggestion is that you write at least five different headlines for each type of headline listed below. That helps you get creative and thinking about different ways to present your product or service.


1. The direct statement headline.

Examples:
a. The most luxurious hotel in the whole world!
b. Get free unlimited phone calls in the family plan!


2. The question headline.
Examples:
a. Are you tired of working for a lousy, miserable boss?
b. Are you always wasting time looking for those keys?

3. The how-to headline.
Examples:
a. How to beat the IRS at its own game.
b. How to start investing with only $25 and amass a fortune!

4. The command headline.
Examples:
a. Buy now before the deadline is up and you get 10% off!
b. Sign up here to get your free reports on building wealth in 10 months!

5. The implicit benefit headline.
Examples:
a. 5 ways to capture new customers visiting your Website.
b. 30 days to a younger looking face by using XXX cream!

6. The guarantee headline.
Examples:
a. If you don’t make at least $2,000 in the first month using this product, then we guarantee a full refund.
b. The “Splice & Dice Miracle Widget” guarantees to take 15 minutes off your meal’s preparation time!

7. The deep discount headline.
Examples:
a. Get two pairs of earrings and get a third set for free!
b. Order 6 books at $1.00 each (Plus S&H) to start your membership today.

8. The personalized headline.
Examples:
a. Lori, if you renew your contract today, we guarantee the same low price for another two years!
b. Robert! This package deal is designed to help you make $5,000 in your first week of business!

9. The “reasons why” headline.
Examples:
a. Here are 5 examples of why you should use “Filter X” water filtrations systems!
b. 10 reasons why you must stop smoking now! It’s not what you think!

10. The short, punchy headline. 
Examples:
a. “If it all ended now……..”
b. “It’s over!!”
